During the past decade Switzerland has become a true golfing nation. At present there are 94 golf courses in the Swiss Golf Association (ASG). As a result, this small country in the heart of Europe has the highest golf course density on the continent. And above all, nowhere else in the world are golf courses as varied as in Switzerland. In 2008, 27 golf courses were renewed or redesigned and only a few more are needed before Switzerland will reach the magic number of 100 courses. Switzerland’s popularity as a golfing nation is not least due to its climate, which enables in general a season of ten months in the Tessin, the southern part of the country, seven months in the lowlands, and five months in higher, Alpine destinations.
